Communications consultant and Colorado State University English professor John Calderazzo uses the language and storytelling skills he’s developed as an award-winning teacher and writer to help scientists and others communicate with the public, the media, and decision makers. He’s the winner of a Best CSU Teacher award, the author of Rising Fire: Volcanoes & Our Inner Lives and other books, as well as hundreds of stories and articles in popular and literary magazines. Some of his students have gone on to win the highest awards in American letters or write best-selling nonfiction books. In 2008, he co-founded Changing Climates @ CSU, a series of climate change discussions with voices from 28 CSU departments. He contributes to The Plainspoken Scientist blog of the American Geophysical Union and runs storytelling workshops for organizations such as the American Meteorological Society, the United States Geological Survey, and the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
